Koi
of the Year 2010
Showa
- owned by Cindy Coombs
Showa - From Quality Koi Farm - Spawned Summer 2008
This Showa is 17.5 inches long. Beautiful luster with great body confirmation and interesting pattern. It is expected that over time the sumi and hi will expand, balancing the white.
As it is, it is still a very pretty fish.
It was a very
tight competition this year with five quality koi in the running.
Two Showas, two Kohakus and 1 Sanke Tancho all showed
promise.
Congratulations
to Cindy Coombs whose Showa won....and to Charlie Coombs, whose
Kohaku took a very close 2nd. Here are the
runners up.

Kohaku - From Richard Rombolt - Spawned Summer 2007
This kohaku is 18 inches long and has exquisite
body confirmation, luster and pattern. Owned by Charlie Coombs of
Lugoff.
Kohaku - from Purdin Koi Farms - Spawned
Summer 2007
This 14 inch Kohaku has a very appealing body and
head shape with beautiful fins. If the red (hi) were broken
up a little more, the pattern would be more of a winner. This koi
is owned by Ralph Owens of
Sumter.
Sanke
Tancho - from Carolina Koi Farms - Spawned 2008
This 11 inch Sanke Tancho has lots of promise for
future competitions or breeding stock. It will never win
grand champion but it sure has a perfect tancho. We're hoping
that the sumi will increase over the next year or two. Owned by
Trish Bender of James Island.
Hi
Showa - From Pan Intercorp of Japan - Spawned 2007
This 12 inch Showa was acquired through our club grow-out contest in 2008. Although the sumi is not fully emerged,
there is not enough white along the body to break up the black and red. Owned by Kathy Over of James Island.
Koi
of the Year 2009

This is a 1 year old Budo Goromo, owned by
Linda Lewis.
