This
Gunite and Rebar pond is built much like a swimming pool
with a custom oval shape to appear more naturally
appealing. Two bottom drains and two returns filter the
16,000 gallon pond very efficiently. Water is
added by well pump when necessary and the drain line is
connected to the city sewer lines to provide mess-free
drainage. The filtration system uses an Aquabead filter
and a Hayward 2.5 hp pump. Aeration and waterfalls
are set on timers. This pond also features DC
powered lighting for night viewing.
Depth
varies from 1 to 6 feet, allowing easy access for wildlife
which, unlike many koi owners, the Culbertson
welcome. Pictured below is a frequent visitor, a
yellow eared slider.
